Holistic Self-Care Assessment
Learn how you can make dramatic changes to your health and well-being
Self-care, in its simplest definition, means that you make time and space in your life to nurture yourself with attention and commitment. It is an active and conscious choice to give yourself what you need without guilt.
While the concept of self-care isn't new, it is often mainly focused on taking care of our physical well-being. You nourish yourself daily through healthy lifestyle choices, such as sound nutrition, drinking plenty of water, proper sleep, exercise, intimacy, and healthy relationships and interactions with your environment.
After working for more than 20 years in the field of health and healing, however, I know that true self-care demands a much more holistic approach and needs to encompass taking care of our mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. Just looking after our physical well-being is not enough. To maintain an optimal level of overall health, we also need to look after our mental and emotional health, social engagement, and our spiritual well-being, long before we feel stressed and overwhelmed or develop a chronic disease.
This assessment will help you determine which of the four realms (body, mind, emotions, spirit) is your strongest asset when it comes to staying healthy, and which one is the weakest and might be responsible for an illness or disease. Once you know which area could do with some TLC, you can then create a self-care routine that will not only fit your own needs, but will help you improve your overall health and well-being.
