Hidden Beliefs and Mindsets

4) Write as many open-ended questions about your life as you can think of. Have a friend display these flash cards to you one at a time in random and rapid succession. Don’t stop to think about the answers. Reply as quickly and reflexively as possible to avoid self-censoring. The best way to do it is to actually record your answers with your phone or any other recording device so you can listen to your answers and take note of all the negative, self-limiting statements.

  • Money is …
  • Men are …
  • My health is …
  • My body is …
  • Self-love is …
  • My mother is …
  • God is …
  • Women are …
  • My father is …
  • Sex is …
  • I can’t …
  • My face is …
  • Self-care is …
  • My work is ...
  • ...

After you are done with the journaling prompts/questions, go through all your answers from 1-4 and highlight every statement that is

  • a belief about yourself and
  • a general belief that might limit you.

Pay particular attention to the beliefs and mindsets about yourself that are negative and of a judgmental nature.
